Born and raised
in rural Saskatchewan, Mark G. Damm completed his
undergraduate studies and Law School at the
University of Saskatchewan. Mark articled in
Calgary and was called to the Bar of Alberta in
1991.

Practice |

Mr. Damm has practiced
commercial litigation in Calgary since becoming a
lawyer, specializing in creditors' rights;
including, realization against secured and
non-secured assets, reorganization, bankruptcy &
insolvency, lender liability, commercial, industrial
& agricultural foreclosure and builders' liens,
particularly against interests in oil & gas. He has
a strong agricultural background and expertise in
banking and agribusiness matters, and has acted as
counsel on numerous complex and multi-jurisdictional
commercial realizations in the energy,
entertainment, construction, hospitality,
transportation and agricultural sectors.
Mr. Damm has acted as counsel to banks, credit
unions, receivers & trustees, large corporations,
mortgage companies and not-for-profit organizations
appearing before numerous administrative tribunals,
boards and commissions, the Provincial Court of
Alberta, Court of Queen's Bench of Alberta, the
Alberta Court of Appeal, the Federal Court of Canada
- Trial and Appeal Divisions and the Tax Court of
Canada. In addition to his litigation practice, Mr.
Damm provides general counsel to a variety of small
to medium-sized businesses. |

Mr. Damm
is a member of the Law Society of Alberta, the Canadian Bar
Association, the Insolvency and Foreclosure Subsections of the
CBA – Alberta Branch, the Calgary Bar Association and the
Turnaround Management Association.
Mark
is very active in community and recreational endeavors. He has
sat on several volunteer boards and committees. An avid
outdoorsman, he is a past National Vice-President of Trout
Unlimited Canada and a Lifetime Member of the Rocky Mountain Elk
Foundation. He is a longtime volunteer and shareholder with the
Calgary Exhibition & Stampede, and is a member of the Chuckwagon
Committee, and currently a producer of the GMC Rangeland Derby
during the "Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth." He is a member of
St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.
Mark
is a high-altitude mountaineer, and has climbed in the Rockies,
the Cascades, the Nepal Himalayas and the Argentine Andes. He
has a passion for waterfall and alpine ice climbing. When he
isn’t climbing, he spends his free time traveling and in the
backcountry, hiking, fly-fishing and big game hunting. Mark
enjoys alpine and heli-skiing, whitewater kayaking and has
mountain-biked competitively. A licensed private pilot, he is
also an avid horseman, and enjoys rodeo and chuckwagon racing.
Mark
lives in the Foothills west of Calgary, where he has easy access
to the Eastern Slopes of the Canadian Rockies.
