Robert
Omura holds both a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology
(1988) and a Masters of Arts in History (1995) from
the University of Calgary, before graduating with a
Law Degree from Dalhousie University (1998). He
Articled with James H. Brown & Associates before
being called to the Alberta Bar in 2000 and he joined
Caron & Partners LLP in 2004.

Professional
Practice |

Mr. Omura’s
practice is primarily focused on civil litigation,
corporate/commercial and family law, but he also
practices in real estate, wills and estates, and
intellectual property. In his civil litigation
practice he has appeared before the Alberta Provincial
Court, the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta, the
Court of Appeal of Alberta, the Federal Court, Trial
Division, and the British Columbia Supreme Court. He
has also appeared before several administrative
tribunals. In his corporate/commercial practice he has
been involved in business start-ups and wind-ups,
joint ventures, amalgamations and restructurings,
business and asset purchases and sales, commercial
leases, commercial contracts, licensing agreements,
financing, and estate planning.

| Associations |

Mr.
Omura is a member of the Canadian and Calgary Bar Associations and
the Alberta Civil Trial Lawyers Association. He has taught the
Alberta Bar Admission course for the Canadian Centre for
Professional Legal Education. Mr. Omura regularly volunteers with
Calgary Legal Guidance. He teaches Wills and Estates for MCC
Employment Development’s Fair Gains Program and is a mentor for
the University of Calgary, Faculty of Law, Student Legal
Assistance and the CBA’s UofC Mentor program. He also serves on
the Castle Wilderness Subcommittee, Canadian Parks and Wilderness
Society, Calgary/Banff Chapter. He is currently a member of the
Civil Litigation, Business Law, Intellectual Property and
Environmental Law sections of the Canadian Bar Association. Mr.
Omura is a former Board Member of the Calgary Young People’s
Theatre, the Calgary Rehabilitation Society, and the University of
Calgary, Student Union, Student Legislative Council, Standing
Olympic Committee. |
